It is normal for stress to be part of our lives. Whilst it can feel like an unwanted visitor, stress can be managed correctly and become a source of growth, performance and wellbeing. It is important however to understand your level of stress and how it may be impacting you.
What happens when we feel stressed?
- In a normal stress response, your heightened state is followed by a state of recovery and rest.
- Your body and mind calm and you restore your resources.
- If you don’t calm down and you continue to experience stressors it can lead to chronic stress.
- Chronic stress opens the door to burnout if we don't recover properly.
