Feeling Less Balanced
If you are currently feeling less balanced you are not alone. The OECD report “How’s Life?” found that well-being has deteriorated since 2007. Work is a major influence on well-being and this key life domain continues to be a challenge when we try to balance it with our other daily living requirements.
In Australia, more than 14% of employees work very long hours, much more than the OECD (Better Life Index) average of 9%.
If you can’t reduce your work hours, consider the following 3 strategies to feel more balanced and improve your wellbeing:
- Next time you have a one-on-one meeting, consider a walking meeting to improve your health and boost creativity. For further inspiration check out this Ted Talk by Nilofer Merchant: http://lnkd.in/bxRa_aD
- If you are feeling worn down by too many tasks at work, take a few minutes and let your attention scan your whole body. Notice where you are tense and relax. Alternatively go outside and breathe fresh air
- Stop multi-tasking to enhance your productivity and enjoyment of task at hand. Practice mindfulness meditation. Follow your breath for a minute to increase your focus and decrease the distractions
